(Catechetical Sunday)
Entrance: G 596 – Praise to You, O Christ, Our Savior
Praise to you, O Christ, our Savior,
Word of the Father, calling us to life;
Son of God who leads us to freedom:
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ!
You are the Word who calls us out of darkness;
You are the Word who leads us into light;
You are the Word who brings us thorough the desert:
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ!
Praise to you, O Christ, our Savior,
Word of the Father, calling us to life;
Son of God who leads us to freedom:
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ!
You are the one whom prophets hoped and longed for;
You are the one who speaks to us today;
You are the one who leads us to our future:
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ!
Praise to you, O Christ, our Savior,
Word of the Father, calling us to life;
Son of God who leads us to freedom:
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ!
Psalm: Ps. 103 The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to anger, and rich in compassion.
Gospel Acclamation:
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
I give you a new commandment, says the Lord:
love one another as I have loved you.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gifts: G 706 Where Charity and Love Prevail
Where charity and love prevail,
there God is ever found;
Brought here together by Christ’s love,
by love are we thus bound.
With grateful joy and holy fear
God’s charity we learn;
Let us with heart and mind and soul
now love God in return.
Forgive we now each other’s faults
as we our faults confess;
And let us love each other well
in Christian holiness.
Let strife among us be unknown,
let all contention cease;
Be God’s the glory that we seek,
be ours God’s holy peace.
Let us recall that in our midst
dwells God’s begotten Son;
As members of his body joined,
we are in Christ made one.
No race or creed can love exclude,
if honored be God’s name;
Our family embraces all
whose Father is the same.
Communion: G 764 – Lord, Whose Love in Humble Service
1 Lord, whose love in humble service
bore the weight of human need,
who upon the cross, forsaken,
worked your mercy’s perfect deed:
we, your servants, bring the worship
not of voice alone, but heart;
consecrating to your purpose
ev’ry gift which you impart.
2 Still your children wander homeless;
still the hungry cry for bread;
still the captives long for freedom;
still in grief we mourn our dead.
As you, Lord, in deep compassion
healed the sick and freed the soul,
by your Spirit send your power
to our world to make it whole.
3 As we worship, grant us vision,
till your love’s revealing light
in its height and depth and greatness
dawns upon our quickened sight,
making known the needs and burdens
your compassion bids us bear,
stirring us to ardent service,
your abundant life to share.
4 Called by worship to your service,
forth in your dear name we go,
to the child, the youth, the aged,
love in living deeds to show;
hope and health, good will and comfort,
counsel, aid and peace we give,
that your servants, Lord, in freedom
may your mercy know and live.
Sending: G 769 – Go Make of All Disciples
1. "Go make of all disciples:"
We hear the call, O Lord,
That comes from you, our Father,
In your eternal Word.
Inspire our ways of learning
Through earnest, fervent prayer,
And let our daily living
Reveal you ev'ry where.
2. "Go make of all disciples."
Baptizing in the name
Of Father, Son, and Spirit
From age to age the same.
We call each new disciple
To follow you, O Lord,
Redeeming soul and body
By water and the Word.
3. "Go make of all disciples."
We at your feet would stay
Until each life's vocation
Accents your holy way.
We cultivate the nature
God plants in ev'ry heart,
Revealing in our witness
The Master Teacher's art.
